Greater Bridgeport District Championship
Congratulations to Chris Flowers for winning the 2022 Greater Bridgeport District Championship @ Tashua Knolls Golf Course on 10/2.
Chris defeated Mike Fowler from Mill River GC. The match began with Chris starting off strong with a 4 hole lead before surrendering the lead on the back nine and coming to the 18th tee box tied. Both players hit their tee shots on the long, dogleg right par 4 and were side-by-side. Fowler hit his approach to 20' away with a good look at birdie as Chris wound up just short right of the green. Chris was first to play and chipped to about 12'. Fowler ensued by just missing his birdie putt as it came to rest 3' beyond the hole. With the match on the line Chris drained the 12' putt for par! Fowler had to make the 3' come-backer for the tie but his putt stayed on the left edge! A great match between two excellent golfers.
This is Chris Flowers 1st Greater Bridgeport District Championship victory. Congratulations Chris and THANK YOU to everyone who represented Smith these past couple of weeks!
Congratulations to Ashton Lewis and Dan Murphy for their successful week at the Connecticut Amateur!
Ashton Lewis finished T-3 in the two-day stroke play and advanced to the Round of 32 in match play.
Dan Murphy finished T-13 in the stroke play and won two of his matches to advance to the quarterfinals.

Congratulations to Ashton Lewis for a good showing at the Palmer Cup at Wampanoag CC. After an opening round of 75, Ashton made the cut sitting at T-39. He was able to return for a very steady second round, and then made a move up the leaderboard on his final round carding 5 birdies along with an eagle to finish T-11 for the tournament, earning him an exemption for next year. Congratulations to Chris Flowers for finishing T-2 in the Providence Open at Triggs Memorial GC on July 7-8. Chris finished -6 over the 2 day tournament. In round 2, Chris holed out for eagle on 5 then made a 20 footer for birdie on 18 to tie the leaders. After a 6-man playoff, Chris won Low Amateur honors.
